Species: Chinese Hamster (Cricetulus griseus)

Tissue Type: Ovarian fibroblast

Phenotype: Adherent when grown in serum containing media or in suspension with most protein free media.

Format: Provided as a frozen vial of cells containing 5,000,000 cells/mL/vial in freezing media.  May be provided as an actively growing culture in a T25 flask on request (additional cost may apply).

QC Tests: Tested and certified mycoplasma free. No other tests done.

Growth Media: DMEM with 10% FCS or similar. Also grows well in ADCF MAB (HyClone) and CDM4CHO (HyClone) serum free media. Other media are not tested.

Protocols: Frozen vials shipped on dry ice.  Upon receipt immediately transfer the vials to the liquid Nitrogen storage tank.  The vials may also be thawed in a 37°C water bath and transferred cells into culture using standard tissue culture procedure. Do not store the frozen vials of cells in the -80°C freezer for more than 24 hours.

Flask culture: This product is shipped at ambient temperature. This is an adherent cell line, but cells may have detached from the surface during shipping. Upon receipt pour media into a sterile centrifuge tube, spin at 1000 rpm, and remove media (may be reused or saved for future use). Resuspend and transfer cells back to the flask required media. Continue culturing following standard tissue culture protocols.

Storage: Upon receipt it recommended transferring frozen vials immediately to liquid Nitrogen for storage. Or thaw vial as per standard cell culture procedure and initiated into cell culture by standard procedure. Do not store frozen vials at -80◦C freezer.
