Product Name: Green Fluorescent Protein

Catalogue No.: 186261

Alternate Names: GFP

Description: GFP, also known as Green Fluorescent Protein, is a protein produced by the jellyfish (Aequorea Victoria) that produces bioluminescence in the green zone of the noticeable spectrum. Green Fluorescent Protein is a useful and ubiquitous instrument for producing chimeric proteins, where it functions as a fluorescent protein tag. GFP is expressed in most known cell types and is used as a noninvasive fluorescent marker in living cells and organisms. Green Fluorescent Protein permits a broad range of applications where it has functioned as a cell lineage tracer, reporter of gene expression, or as a measure of protein-protein interactions.

Type: Recombinant Protein

Source: Escherichia Coli

Appearance: Sterile filtered yellowish solution

Molecular Weight: 26.8 kDa, variation due to glycosylation

Concentration: 1mg/mL

Format: The GFP solution (1mg/ml) contains 20mM Tris-HCl, pH-8 and 10% Glycerol

Purity: Purified to >95.0% by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Verified by SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC

Reconstitution: Reconstitute with sterile distilled water. If reconstituting to <1mg/mL it is recommended to add albumin (recombinant HSA or BSA) to 0.1% to keep the protein stable.

Storage: Once reconstituted may be stored in refrigerator at 2°C - 8°C for a week. Long term should be stored desiccated below -20°C. Avoid frequent freeze and thaw cycles.

Shipping: Products may be shipped on blue ice pack or at ambient temperature.
