Description: K-562 are lymphoblast cells isolated from the bone marrow of a 53-year-old chronic myelogenous leukemia patient. This cell line is widely used in immune system disorder and immunology research.

Quantity: 5 x 10e6 cells per vial per ml in our freezing media (Catalog# 113026). If a flask culture expects 2x 10e6 to 3x 10e6 cells at 50% confluency in flask.

Organism: Human

Tissue Type: Human Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia.

Phenotype: Generally, grows in suspension or lightly adhered in most standard media.

Format: Provided as a frozen vial of cells containing 5000,000 cells/vial/mL in freezing media. Freezing media contains 10% DMSO and 40% FCS and 50% DMEM or If a flask culture is provided as ~50% confluent T25 or T75 flask shipped at ambient temperature with culture media filled to the brim.

Growth Media: DMEM with 10% FCS or similar. We highly recommended to use our ‘HyMax™ Hybridoma Fusion and Cloning Supplement’ (our Catalog# 113004) to promote growth and viability.

Storage: Up on receipt it is recommended to transfer frozen vial immediately to liquid Nitrogen for storage. Do not store frozen cell lines at -80◦C freezer. Or thaw vial and initiate into a cell culture in a T25 flask or similar with working media. If flask culture transfer to CO2 incubator for continued culturing after removing excess media.

Culture Method: Upon receipt transfer the cell suspension to a centrifuge tube and spin down at 700 rpm for 5 minutes (media may be saved for short term use).  Resuspend cells in 10mL media (T25 flask) or 25mL media (T75 flask) and transfer to a CO2 incubator for continued culturing.

Shipping: Products may be shipped on dry ice if frozen vial. On special request, actively growing cells in T25 flasks may be shipped at room temperature (additional cost may apply).
