Description: IgGs have also been linked to autoimmune disorders and complement fixation. Monoclonal anti-human IgG (Fc specific) antibodies only recognize the Fc region of human IgG; they do not recognize the Fab region. Additionally, IgA, IgM, and immunoglobulin light chains have no effect on a reaction with the antibody. The Fc region also serves as a site for rheumatoid factor (autoantibody directed to Fc) attachment and protein A binding. A certain population of lymphocytes also possess a "Fc receptor". These functions indicate the importance of immunoreagents specific for the Fc fragment of Human IgG.
