Description: Amphotericin B deoxycholate belongs to the polyene class of antifungals. It is also known by the conventional name amphotericin B and has been used for the treatment of invasive fungal infections. It is a polyene antifungal antibiotic that forms channels in fungal membranes inducing non-specific loss of low molecular weight molecules to leak out. The compounds mechanism of action is to bind to sterols and disrupt the osmotic integrity of the fungal membrane.
