Description: Gum Arabic is a natural gum made of hardened sap taken from Acacia tree. It is a water soluble gum used in the manufacture of soft drinks, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. In food industry it is primarily used as a stabilizer. It is harvested commercially from wild trees in Africa and Asia. It is made up of a complex mixture of glycoproteins and polysaccharides. It was historically the source of the sugar’s arabinose and ribose, both of which were first discovered and isolated from it and are named after it.
