Description: Leptospira species causes diseases in humans and animals called Leptospirosis. It is a spirochete type bacteria of the genus Leptospira. In humans, it can cause a wide range of symptoms, some of which may be mistaken for other diseases. About 22 species of Leptospira have been identified, of which the common ones are which cause disease are L. alexanderi, L. borgpetersenii, L. interrogans, L. Kirshneri, L. mayottensis, L. Noguchii, L santarosai and L. weilii.
