Product: Anti Mouse IgM Monoclonal Antibody [IM260]
Catalog No.: 165238
Description: The initial antibody produced in an immunological response to an antigen is IgM. The five immunoglobulins are often joined together by disulfide bonds to form a pentamer. It has a molecular mass of 970 kDa in pentamer form and has 10 antigen binding sites, however not all of them can be occupied at once because of the size of most antigens. The hybridoma cell line that generates the antibody gave rise to the clone IM260, which is probably one of several clones. Every clone is a unique population of cells with the same genetic makeup that produce antibodies with the same specificity and binding properties. Clone IM260 would have the ability to precisely attach to and recognize mouse IgM antibodies. This can be useful in various research applications, such as immunoassays, immunohistochemistry, or flow cytometry, where the detection or quantification of mouse IgM is required.
