Description: Sulfatide is a sulfated ester of Galactosylcerebroside with the sulfate joined by an ester linkage to the C-3 hydroxyl of galactose. The interaction between sulfatide and P-selectin, both of which are expressed on platelets, is important for stable platelet adhesion and aggregation during hemostasis and thrombosis. Therefore, sulfatide is thought to have both activities for coagulation and anticoagulation.
