Product: Anti Ganglioside GM2 Polyclonal Antibody
Catalog No.: 163068
Description: Gangliosides are complex glycolipids composed of a ceramide linked to a glycan with at least one sialic acid. In humans, GM3 ganglioside is predominantly in peripheral tissues such as liver, adipose tissue, aorta, and platelets ; whereas GM1, GD1a, GD1b, GT1b, and GQ1b are the major gangliosides in human brain (~95%). The remaining 5% of brain gangliosides corresponds to other gangliosides among which GM2 is found. Gangliosides are distributed in caveolae-rich microdomains of the plasma membrane, where they perform crucial functions such as membrane organization, neuronal differentiation, cell adhesion, signal transduction, inflammation, and neurite outgrowth, among others.
